No Nê Vinyl marks the first Vietnamese rap album being released in vinyl format. As the third concept album from Suboi, who is also known as Vietnam’s Queen of Rap, No Nê was highly anticipated and critically acclaimed as the triumphant return of Suboi. No Nê was first released on streaming platforms in 2021 before being developed into physical version.

Concept: “Teardrops under the sun”

Following the digital version’s artwork, which portrays a rising sun shining down the liquid typography, the concept "teardrops under the sun" has been chosen and refined for development in the vinyl version to create consistency and continuity.

With this concept, the key idea is derived from the physical properties of tears under the refraction of sunlight. Characteristics of water/liquid under sunlight refraction are used as the main material for the typography and key visual of the vinyl album.

Ripple Effect

Additionally, the back cover has been designed with a ripple effect, evoking the image of the sun reflecting on water. This effect serves to narrate and continue the story of "teardrops under the sun" from the digital album artwork. In addition, the circle from the ripple also highlights the notion of “no nê”-the album title, which means full and satisfying.

Tracklist Typography

The typography of the tracklist was designed to be organic, soft, flowing, and free-spirited to match the other graphic elements. In the end, Suboi’s handwriting was chosen to leave a personal mark on the vinyl.

Center Label

The center label has been simplified by retaining mainly the album title and the tracklist for each side to avoid design clutter, especially since there are multiple fonts in use.
